Backyard Bird Nesting Seminar

Tickets are not available as this event has passed.

The nesting season starts early in coastal California. Owls and hummingbirds begin courtship in December, the great chorus of spring song begins to ramp up in January, and many songbirds are looking for nest sites by the end of February. In this in-store talk, we’ll provide an introduction to many of the key aspects of the nesting season: how does bird behavior change at this time of year? Where do different kinds of birds nest? How long does the nesting season last?

House finches in nest – Carol Crestetto

We’ll then focus in on backyard birds and how you can support them: which local birds will use nest boxes, how should you choose and place birdhouses for maximum success, and what else you can do to encourage nesting birds in your yard.

This free presentation at Wild Birds Unlimited of Novato will begin at 10 AM on Sunday, February 17 and last about 45 minutes, with time for questions afterwards. Reserve your space by selecting your number of participants and clicking on “Confirm RSVP” above. This talk is now fully booked; please check back soon for additional events.

  1. Looks like everything in February is full too. Is that why I am having trouble getting to sign uos(?)

    1. Hi Terry, the seminar and Las Gallinas walks are fully booked, but I have just posted a walk at Pacheco Pond in Novato on Friday, February 15th. I haven’t announced that one in the newsletter yet, so it should have space available for a while.
