In this presentation at the Novato library, we’ll give a tour of essentially all our local raptors, covering around 20 species of hawk, falcon, eagle, as well as our most notable owls. We’ll teach you how to identify the familiar species with confidence and where to find the less common birds.

Backyard Birding by Ear: Fall Edition

In this in-store presentation, we’ll be playing and discussing how to recognize about 20 common backyard birds by the sounds they make in fall. In addition to the nitty-gritty, call-by-call material, we’ll also discuss the purpose of different bird vocalizations and the tips, tricks, and techniques that will make it easier both to remember these birds and to learn others in the future.

Seminar: Ducks & Other Swimming Birds

In this in-store presentation, we’ll be discussing ducks and other swimming birds. We’ll give an overview of the different families: ducks, geese, swans, grebes, rails, and cormorants, then move on to how to identify and find our most notable local species.
