Saturday, 3/14: Trees of Marin at Novato Library

The Jack Guide

We talk a lot about birds – but not exclusively! In this talk at the Novato Library,  Jack will present an introduction to all the major native trees of Marin. Getting to grips with the bulk of our trees is easier than doing the same with birds: these 25 or so species will cover 95% of what you encounter in our woodlands and forests. Spend a relaxing hour at the library one Saturday morning and you’ll be prepared to  identify and understand the great majority of our local trees.

For more information, see the event page here.

Sunday, 3/15: Deer Island Bird Walk

Join Jack and Corrina for a gentle walk around this Novato preserve as we say farewell to many of our winter visitors. We will search the oak savanna and woodlands for Say’s phoebes, ruby-crowned kinglets, and Townsend’s warblers while we scan the nearby wetlands for waterfowl that will soon be off to their breeding grounds. Meanwhile, residents birds and early spring migrants should be singing, swallow numbers over the wetlands will be rising, and local raptors will be getting territorial.

For more information and to reserve your spot, see the event page here.
